If you read books about time travel(Portrait of Jenny? Tom's Midnight Garden?) and you like restraunts with linen tablecloths and ice water, deep windowsills that hold geraniums, this is the bookshop for you. Like the words themselves, "shop", "Alabaster", the proprieter has a somewhat old fashioned gentility, generosity, and intuition, a "bookish" fellow. And how is it he can read your mind and understand your taste in books, rugged individualist that you are? In the days before amazon and google, he taught me how to search for out of print books on the internet ...
