Zombie Joe's Underground Theatre Group, or ZJU Theatre Group was born in August 1992 in a small industrial garage near the corner of Pathenia and Bryant streets in the city of Northridge deep in the northwest San Fernando Valley, California. Zombie Joe founded the company upon the ground-breaking theatrical doctrines of Antonon Artaud, Bertolt Brecht, Anton Chekhov, Ivan Turgenev, Fyodor Dostoevsky and George Lucas. Building upon the traditions of these innovators before him, Zombie Joe soon developed his own peculiar evolution of performance, forging his own brand of "progressive" theatre, a unique brand of high impact, fast and furious, tightly-chiseled live entertainment that would pave ZJU's path into the new millennium. This year, their original adaptation of Edgar Allan Poe's "Masque of the Red Death" has earned them 3 LA Weekly Theatre Award Nominations. The horrorific show opens at St. Luke's Theater in August of 2008. Don't Miss the Magic at ZombieJoes.com
