Siouxsie (of Siouxsie and the Banshees) has always walked to the beat of her own drum. In the process, she's created relevant and contrasting releases over 3 decades. From her emergence during the late 70's Punk scene in the UK to her current work, she has remained true to a uniquely compelling aesthetic and evolving sound quality.
Mantaray (Decca Records) is the debut solo album (her first recording without The Banshees or The Creatures) and it gets a stateside release on October 2, 2007.
Mantaray, produced by Steve Evans (Robert Plant) and Charlie Jones is fresh and contemporary while remaining immediately recognizable. Incorporating industrial rhythms, modern glam and other organic elements, Siouxsie's iconic vocals are showcased in newly expansive sound across the whole album. Mantaray tracklisting is as follows:
1. Into a Swan 2. About to Happen 3. Here Comes that Day 4. Loveless 5. If it Doesn't Kill You 6. One Mile Below 7. Drone Zone 8. Sea of Tranquility 9. They Follow You 10. Heaven and Alchemy

Having released one the warmest records of '07, THE BESNARD LAKES - those almost-famous disseminators of gorgeous but grounded experimental pop music - are returning to the United States in July having just returned from their first European tour.
Their full-length album on Jagjaguwar (also see David Vandervelde), called "The Besnard Lakes Are The Dark Horse", that quickly made it onto numerous and budding best-albums-of-the-year short-lists by a whole range of music-listening pedigree -- critics, casual and not-so-casual rock listeners, garden variety pop fans, and headphone junkies. Pitchfork recently wrote: "...almost every song builds to a crucial moment where the Besnards bravely step out of the shadows, and in the process, transform from being a merely good band to a great one."
Check out, "And You Lied To Me".
