Many of our users mention the "spectacular lobby" and "famous Carlyle Cafe" and how the Carlyle offers "old world charm and the feeling that you have been transported back to Gotham City in the 20s...glamourous, elegant and fun." However, while the hotel offers a "terrific location" a few of our users were disappointed in the rooms which "are clearly not as luxurious or technologically advanced" as other hotels in the same class. "Rooms are a bit worn and impossibly small. The service, however, is top notch." Overall, NYC.com users recommend the Carlyle for travelers who enjoy "old-world charm," and the feeling of staying at "a private residence rather than a hotel."
