EDITORIAL REVIEW
Location. Nestled amongst the 19th century brownstones of Murray Hill in New York City, N.Y., the Shelburne Murray Hill is a pre war Art Deco building within three blocks of Fifth Avenue shopping and four blocks from Grand Central Station. The Empire State Building is seven blocks from the hotel.
Features. The traditional European style Shelburne Murray Hill was built in 1929. The Rare Bar and Grill is dressed in deep reds and khaki, with exposed brick walls, a solid oak bar and offers gourmet burgers made from ingredients such as shrimp and crab, barbequed pork and vegetables, with toppings including grilled Portobello mushrooms, caramelized onions and chili ketchup. The Rare View rooftop bar offers views of the Empire State Building and the Manhattan skyline from a rooftop garden. Cocktails are served here during the summer months. Wireless Internet access is available for a fee in the lobby, lounge and library. A fitness center with saunas, showers and lockers are on site.
Guestrooms. The apartment style units range from studios to two bedroom units. Beds are dressed in 300 thread count linens and a pillow menu, upon request. Each suite features a kitchen with refrigerator, range, microwave oven and toaster. Select rooms feature sitting areas with chaise lounges, dark wood furnishings and flat panel televisions.
