EDITORIAL REVIEW
Opened in 1921 as a residential-style hotel, this handsome brick building is in the prestigious Midtown East area, adjoining historic Murray Hill. The front door, adorned with bronze scrollwork, opens to a mahogany-paneled lobby with hardwood floors, artfully arranged fresh flowers, a basket of apples, and Regency-style, swan-necked chairs. Brass wall sconces subtly illuminate the space, enhancing the gracious, refined ambience.
This 10-story hotel offers 146 guestrooms. All feature signature Sheraton Sweet Sleeper Beds: a custom-designed, extra-thick, plush-top mattress dressed with three sheets, fleece blankets, plump down duvet in rich colors, and five goose down/feather pillows. Sophisticated English Country decor includes 9½-foot beamed ceilings, crown molding, cherry-finish furniture, and brass lamps. Each room has a Bose Wave radio, desk with upholstered chair, armchair with ottoman, and fax/copier/printer, complimentary except for outgoing faxes. Marble bathrooms include telephones, bathrobes, pedestal sinks, hair dryers, and make-up mirrors. Rooms have interior, Park Avenue, or 37th Street views. Some have non-working fireplaces.
This hotel has its own distinctive Old World ambience. An extensive Continental breakfast is served in the Club Lounge; complimentary hors d’oeuvres are served in the Club Bar. Complimentary wireless Internet access is available in the lobby, living room, conference room, bar, and lounge. The concierges belong to the Les Clefs D’Or (gold key) professional organization and are expert at fulfilling guests’ needs.
You are just minutes away from Grand Central Station, the United Nations, fine dining and shopping on Fifth and Madison Avenues here, and the location is ideal for both tourists and business travelers alike.
