It's hard to argue for a hipper borough, as Brooklynites can claim the detached coolness of their New Yorker status without the imagined snobbishness of being from Manhattan. The second most densely populated county in the United States (behind Manhattan) and the most populous, Brooklyn has always maintained its own distinct identity, which, unlike Queens or the Bronx, has been known to rival Manhattan's in terms of cultural diversity, a lively art and music scene, and its own striking geography and architecture.
