By Hotel_Editor who lives in Midtown West Recent hotel guests have said the "location is great" and there "is little noise" but complain of "dirty rooms" and "indifferent service" as well as "appalling furnishings". The convenient location to Penn Station (and Newark airport via AirTrain) are important factors for many guests. While everyone has a different experience, it is worth noting that negative reviews outweigh the positive ones.

By broadslade They do not seem to be able to answer their telephone. I am trying to contact a guest at the hotel and cannot get a reply...not even an answering machine.

By marfa who lives in Texas I was initially a bit skeptical, having read so many reviews. But I travel a lot for business, and found my room to be quite clean, decent-sized for Manhattan, and most of all: CONVENIENT. With the Amtrak & Air Train right across the street at Penn Station, you've got it made here. There's also a small shuttle bus to and from JFK. Obviously the rooms are quite varied in a hotel this large, but I was perfectly happy with what I was given and slept well for two nights.

By aliasgrace who lives in UK Very basic, not very clean, poor lighting in rooms persumably so you don't see how dirty they are. The first room we were given wasn't suitable for a dog. We spoke to the reception desk who gave us a free upgrade, slightly better than first room. It's no doubt a case you get what you pay for. The place is tired and needs a revamp. I don't mind the place looking tired as long as it clean, unfortunately this isn't the case. I don't think the Pennsylvannia owns a hoover.Cheap but not cheerful!! Oh and take your night vision googles rooms are dark and dingy even during the day

By kevin0345 who lives in Minnesota I had mot been to NYC in a few years and did not want to drop a fortune on a hotel. Afriend suggested I try the Hotel Pennsylvania & am I glad I did.The location was great and the rooms were better than I expected. the room was half way up the hotel facing the street. Did not here any street noise at all,Staff was very acommodating and would defintely stay there again!!
