City Opera

City Opera does have better acoustics than Alice Tully Hall, but it's certainly not the Metropolitan Opera. Nevertheless, I've seen wonderful productions here over the years, operas that the Met would never stage, and they have been fantastic. A fair number of productions are imported from upstate's Glimmerglass opera. And the ticket price is less of a hardship on the wallet than at the Met.
